This role will be responsible for the unit’s overall performance mandate in line with the Sanofi Vaccine Global Business Unit, ensuring optimal deployment of the vaccine business for Sanofi and its local partner(s), an industrial partnership management scope, knowledge of vaccines and clear understanding of what is at stakes for South Africa / Sanofi Vaccines development in line with the regional ambition.
The candidate should have a strong understanding of the global biological ecosystem with a good understanding of the global vaccine supply and demand. Exposure to a global multinational environment is strongly advantageous.
Roles & Responsibilities

Define and implement the strategy of the Business Unit in a designated territory

Ensure maximum growth and market penetration in line with GBU strategy & vision in line with the local mandate that exist with the Local partner Biovac

Lead key internal and external stakeholder alignment to ensure business results achievement

Highly skilled in the public sector of South Africa dealing with external stakeholder engagement.

Partnership knowledge to ensure optimal development of the local /regional production strategy.

As a member of the local country council, support and align local resources and priorities to achieve country and global expectations.

To positively position the GBU offering in the market, through consistent performance monitoring and market trends & dynamics understanding and optimization

Find new market opportunities in collaboration with key stakeholders both internally and externally

Ensure that all financial aspects of the company are managed, including budgeting, forecasting, LongRange Planning, resourcing, OPEX and overall P&L management

Actively participate in key industry bodies that are crucial for organizational strategic imperatives (i.e. policy makers, government bodies, funders, key opinion leaders, etc.)

Focus on the development of expertise and our local team's skills

Focus on organizational effectiveness and growth by driving the global people strategy in the perimeter (Talents growth & retention, Diversity & Inclusion, teams’ engagement etc.)

Effective cross-organizational cooperation to ensure the best business results

Participate in affiliate country council in line with global strategy governance requirements

Full P&L accountability for the business unit
- Challenges and manages local marketing and sales
- Builds Sales and OpEx budget
- Leads & guides daily country operations
- Sets individual targets for country direct reports
- Coordinates development of commercial tactics
- Responsible for talent management at the country level
- Responsible for staffing local organizations in cooperation with HR partner
- Seeks continuous improvement in processes and resource allocation and ensuring that resource allocation is aligned with local and global processes and procedures
- Ensures successful launch of all new products for the business unit
- Ensure full ethics and compliance with the Sanofi vaccines activities

A seasoned General Manager with partner management of a 3rd party
