We have a vacancy in our Legal Team for a Senior Legal Advisor, reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer. The role will be responsible for building trust relationships with, providing legal advice to, and overseeing the legal compliance of the KFC System (Head Office and Franchise System).
Further, it will be to mitigate risk through negotiation, facilitation, advising on and drafting of business-related transactions which include, but is not limited to, business sales and acquisitions, business restructures, franchise-related agreements, property-related agreements, supplier, and service agreements. It will also include implementing and monitoring legislative and company compliance programmes and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiation, facilitation, advising and drafting of business-related transactions which includes, but is not limited to business sales and acquisitions, business restructures, franchise-related agreements, property related agreements, supplier and service agreements - 75%
- Provide legal advice to and oversee legal compliance of the KFC System (Head Office and Franchise System) - 10%
- Implement and monitor legislative and company compliance programmes and systems - 10%
- Manage and resolve customer complaints as well as contractual disputes and litigation - Ad hoc
- Provide System and Legislative Training - Ad hoc
- Maintain and update System manuals, policies and disclosure documents as per Company and Legislative requirements - 5%
- Manage relationships with External Counsel - Ongoing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws and an Admitted Attorney

Experience:
- 7 – 10 years post articles experience, with managerial experience and/or leadership experience
- Articles completed preferably in a major law firm
- In-house legal experience will be highly favoured
- Extensive exposure to contract negotiation and drafting (min 7 years)
- Must be able to work independently across various departments and with various stakeholders
- Experience in dealing with Franchising highly regarded
Competencies/Skills:
- Specialised knowledge in corporate and company law
- Commercially astute, solution orientated, able to think out the box when permitted
- Self-starter, sense of urgency, able to work without close supervision
- Excellent communication skills and ability to counsel and influence other departments, franchisees and suppliers
- Must be able to work in a flexible and agile environment
