POST: Team Leader: National Priority Violent Crimes (Lieutenant Colonel)
LOCATION: Serious Organised Crime Investigation, Gauteng & North West
LEVEL OF REMUNERATION: Band D: R 474 216 per annum

Core Functions:
- Ensure the effective investigation of organised crime threats identified by means of National crime threat analysis (NCTA),
- Investigate all projects relating to Firearms and Explosives within the Province;
- Investigate off projects relating to Prioritised Violent Crimes in the Province;
- Coordinate all investigations relating to Vehicle Investigations;
- Ensure the maintaining of policy standards and procedures pertaining to organised crime;
- Manage and utilise all resources allocated to the immediate post environment in accordance with the relevant directives and legislation.

Generic Requirements:
Applicant must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post;
- Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and a relevant (to the post) three (3) year Degree/Diploma registered on the National Learner Record Database on at least an NQF 6 level;
- Be proficient in at least two (2) official languages, of which one (1) must be English.
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Must have no previous criminal/departmental convictions or criminal or departmental cases pending;
- Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening;
- Be in possession of at least a valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence;
- Must not have tattoos which will be visible when wearing summer uniform;
- Relevant courses in the field of the post may be an advantage.
Additional requirements:
- Arelevantthree (3) year Diploma/ Degree registered on the National Learner Record Database on at least an NQF 6 level with three (3) years relevant experience in the field of the post of which two (2) years should be on supervisory level.
- Preference will be given to applicants in possession of qualification(s) in Policing/ Law/ Forensic Investigation/ Criminology/ Accounting/ Public Management or related field of study.

General:

- Study/ academic records should be attached to verify modules/subjects where necessary.
- It is the applicant’s responsibility to have foreign qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
- Applicants will be subjected to fingerprint screening.
- Persons who retired from the Public Service by taking a severance package, early retirement or for medical reasons, as well as persons with previous convictions, are excluded.
- Appointments will be made in terms of the South African Police Service Act, 1995.
- Applicantsappointedunder the Police Service Act will be subjected to a medical assessment by a medical practitioner as determined by SAPS prescripts.
