SPAR Western Cape, a division of The SPAR Group Ltd., is recruiting for a Human Resources Development Facilitator, at its Distribution Centre, located in Cape Town.

Job description

To effectively market, co-ordinate, facilitate and manage the administration for retail training activities in line with SPAR Academy Quality Management System.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Identify Develop, Plan, organize, and execute training programs in line with the Retail Training strategy for the Western Cape and Namibia Region.
  • Continually evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing training programs.
  • Facilitate and coordinate all retail Training interventions as per the Training Calendar as well as any other ad hoc training requests.
  • Provide post training Feedback Report on all interventions facilitated.
  • Conduct continuous store visits to gain insight on in-store training needs and collaborate with Retailers and management to develop the level of store employees skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct new Store Manager and Employee Induction Training and participate in new store openings as required. 
  • Ensure e-learning program is utilized in stores and track utilization and effectiveness of the programs.
  • Capture and track all training interventions on HR Manage.
  • Promote SPAR Academy programmes, in line with the set targets.
  • Partner with the W&R SETA to ensure that Retailers maximize on Discretionary Grants.
  • Advise and partner with Retailers to provide guidance on career development.
  • Advise and partner with Retailers in driving performance management processes.
  • Partner with the HR team and company stakeholders to ensure that strategic HR and operational objectives are met.
  • Assist Retailers in conducting their own training needs analysis. 
  • Identify areas of potential risks to the business units, specifically with regards to excessive leave build ups, absenteeism, and any other situations which may cause the stores unnecessary financial losses (HR Checklist).
  • Participate in HR and ad hoc projects and assist in performing other related functions as requested by management.

Minimum requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management. 
  • General computer skills: MS Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint. 
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a Human Resources role, ideally in a retail environment.
  • Alignment with SPAR values – Passion, Family, Entrepreneurship. 
  • SDF/ETDP qualification will be advantageous.
  • Accredited Facilitator.
  • Team player who can also work independently.
  • Strong Coaching & Facilitation Expertise.
  • Sound leadership and people skills. 
  • Good communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work weekends/ after hours to meet business objectives where necessary.
  • Travelling will be required as part of the role and frequent in-store presence.
  • Planning and Organising Skills; Self Driven/Initiative; and Dependable Individual. 
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Lead by example and act as a trusted confidant to our Retailer.
