A position has become available for a Communications Controller to join our dynamic team.

Job description

The purpose of this role is to assist in developing and executing strategic internal and retail communications plan for SPAR KZN. 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Assist in developing and executing communication plans to promote the company’s strategies and operational campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager and broader SPAR KZN team to create interesting and relevant content for the various channels such as newsletters, media screens, social media etc.
  • Assist retailer partners in creating social media and internal communication assets for the various communication platforms.
  • Support the planning, execution of the SPAR KZN DC annual campaigns.
  • Write and develop engaging content for various communication tools and channels including flyers, posters, and video scripting and storyboarding.
  • Assist with handling administrative tasks and ad hoc requests within the Communications Department.
  • Assist in monitoring the production processes including photography, proofreading, field testing, and graphic design.
  • Monitor the application of SPAR’s Corporate Identity to ensure a professional cohesive image of SPAR to enhance the corporate image.
  • Participate in departmental planning and review meetings.
  • Undertake formal and informal communications research as required by strategy and compile reports.

Minimum requirements

  • Relevant Communications/Public Relations/Media qualification.
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience in a communications-related role.
  • Experience in the retail sector will be advantageous.
  • Proven proficiency in using Adobe Creative Cloud applications (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).

  • Excellent communication abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in creating and writing engaging content for various platforms.
  • Ability to execute strategic communication plans aligned with the organisation’s goals.
  • Ability conceptualise and execute campaign specific comms.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Must be deadline driven with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
