Cleaner, Nelspoort Hospital - Western Cape Department of Health

DUTIES:          

• General cleaning, housekeeping and maintenance (i.e. dust, sweep, polish, scrub, mop, clean windows/walls/equipment/machinery and refuse removal.
• Ensure effective Waste Management, Linen control Laundry and Food Services.
• Effective and efficient utilization and storage of cleaning material and equipment.
• Provide optimal support to the supervisor and colleagues with general housekeeping duties and services.
• Adhering to a general hygienic and safe environment in terms of standards and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:          

Minimum requirement:  

• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Experience:

• Appropriate experience in the field of domestic and hospital cleaning services.

Inherent requirements of the job:

• Physically able to lift and or move heavy objects and supplies.
• Ability to operate machinery and equipment used in domestic and hospital cleaning services.

Competencies (knowledge/skills):

• Good communication skills (read, speak and write) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
• Good Interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of the correct methods of handling and disposal of refuse /waste products and adherence to policy and cleaning practices.
• Ability to operate machinery and equipment.
• Knowledge of Legislation and policies of the Department of Health relevant to clinical practice.

SALARY: R104 073 per annum
