G4S Deposita has a vacancy for Financial Accountant based in Samrand. Reporting to the Financial Manager, the Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely administration/completion of the accounting process in line with company policies and procedures.
The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which support plays within a successful business unit.
The incumbent will be expected to be results-driven and to live the values of the organisation.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITY:
The main purpose of the position:
To maintain accurate financial records and to report up to Trial Balance.

Key responsibilities:
Maintain Financial Records
- Review standard processes and procedures and identify areas for improvement
- Monitor and report on accounting discrepancies
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare month-end journals
- Reconciliation on Insurance Payable and Receivable accounts
- Maintain Asset Register
- Overview of Cashbook Reconciliations
- Overview of Petty Cash, Debit Card and Credit Card transactions
Reporting
- Prepare and review reliable and accurate reports for the company
- Overview of all GL Recons done by Finance Team
- Meeting deadlines on submission of internal and external reports
- Calculation of Insurance – submit Declaration to Polygon
- Maintain payments for Claims
- Prepare and submit VAT Returns
- Handle all queries from SARS
- Prepare Ad-hoc reports
Working Relationships
- Liaise with external and internal auditors
- Liaise with other departments in the company
Health and Safety
- Participate in the design/development/review/

implementation and monitoring of the region safety plans for each year
- Participate in safety forums created by company
- Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace
- Distribute safety information as and when required
Minimum requirements
- 3-year Accounting Degree or Diploma
- 5 years experience as an Accountant
- Pastel Evolution
Knowledge, skills and attributes
- Computer literate - ability to work on Excel, MS Outlook, Word
- Communication (written and verbal)
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Problem Solving
- Self-motivated and resourceful, with the proven ability to multi-task and operate successfully under tight deadlines and time pressures
- Work under pressure
- Dealing with changing circumstances
- Attention to detail

Minimum requirements
- 3 year Accounting Degree or Diploma
- 5 years experience as an Accountant
