The Regional Technical Manager is responsible for the operational management of all clinical and physical assets (excluding IT) and building infrastructure for the Netcare Hospital Division.
Key work output and accountabilities
Operational Excellence
- Demonstrate leadership by conveying a strong sense of commitment to the Netcare values and strategic objectives to ensure business growth and unit sustainability.
- Manage all related Technical and Clinical service and activities according to the policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of Netcare in the Region.
- Work closely with the Hospital Manager and National Technical Manager in planning, implementing and evaluating Netcare Technical strategies that will address the requirements of the Technical Division.
- Act in a supervisionary role for all technical activities that take place in the region and take ultimate responsibility for the outcomes of all technical activities.

- Ensure that Technical standards and quality assurance is maintained within the Region.
- Manage activity-based technical costs to achieve operational efficiencies in the Region.
- Manage Operational budget (repair and maintenance) on a regional level.
- Manage and coordinate regional Plant and Machinery projects.
- Utilise time effectively by keeping irrelevant issues or distractions from interfering with the completion of work.
- Provide assistance in determining and creating a physical asset management strategy for the Netcare Hospital Division.
- Ensure that physical assets achieve intended life expectancy.
- Initiate action and monitoring of all Capex projects to ensure consistency and quality of installation and timeous completion.
- Inspect physical assets including medical equipment within the Region.

- Ensure achievement of transformation goals as set out by the Transformation Committee.
Growing with Passionate People
- Represent Netcare regionally on the South African Federation of Hospital Engineering (SAFHE) and Clinical
Engineering Association of South Africa (CEASA), FM symposiums and discussion forums.
- Ensure Technical leadership development including the driving of agreed leadership outcomes as expressed in a Balanced Score Card.
- Build strategic inter-departmental relationships to help achieve business goals.
- Promote sound staff and stakeholder relationships.
- Develop a talented Technical workforce.
- Create an environment where staff are aware of the role they play in the provision of quality technical services and their value to the organization.
- Assign decision-making, authority, tasks and responsibility to appropriate persons in order to maximize organisation and employee effectiveness.
Skills Profile
Education
- An Engineering Degree (B Tech) at a NQF level 7.

WORK EXPERIENCE
- 5 years post-graduate experience in maintenance or operation of the relevant class of machinery and assets.
- Experience in both the electrical and mechanical engineering environments in related industries as specified.
- Previous experience in financial budgeting.
- Previous experience in project management.
- Any hospital or hospitality experience will be an added advantage.
- A Certified Engineer (Certificate of Compliance – GCC) is preferred.
Knowledge
- Computer literate in MS Office.
- Conversant with the principles of maintenance and asset management aspects i.e. ISO 55 000.
- Understanding of energy and water management.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory and statutory regulations.
