The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Senior Security Officer at sea, on the De Beers Marine (SA) mining vessel to ensure that Access Control and CCTV Surveillance is applied to protect the product, people, assets and the reputation of the company. To ensure people accessing high-risk areas and equipment leaving and entering high-risk areas, are monitored, controlled and managed in a manner that provides for a safe and secure environment.
To ensure compliance with legislation, policies and procedures such as the Kimberley Process, Ship Security Plan of the vessel in terms of the ISPS code and Namibian Diamond Act, 13 of 1999.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS :
- Assist SSO in applying Safety Controls
- Identify and report safety, health and environmental risks
- Identify and report security risks
- Ensure compliance to Security Policies and Procedures

- Comply with the De Beers Group Policy and Procedure on Risk Management, and assist in reviewing Security Risk Assessments of the Coral Sea
- Apply and maintain resource protection control measures in accordance with security standards.
- Capture relevant information related to Security Incidents on the Electronic Security Information Management System.
- Utilize security systems (CCTV, Access Control and Physical measures) to enable greater efficiency.
- Ensure controlled access to high risk areas are maintained. (Rules Based Access Control)
- Patrols and Inspections in High Risk Areas, in order to detect anomalies.
- Conduct Access Control and Surveillance duties in accordance with Security Policies and Procedures.
- Reviewing of activities related to Metallurgical Process Security.
- Seal Management in Plant Process areas as part of Security Controls
- Assist Senior Security Officer with monthly Effectiveness Reviews and Monthly inspections
- Assist in the maintenance of CCTV and Access Management Equipment
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum academic appointment requirement is Grade 12
- 5 years experience in the security field
- Be in possession of a valid passport
- Registered in accordance with the Private Security Industry Regulation Act, 56 of 2001 advantageous
- Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) is advantageous
- Relevant Marine Training is advantageous
- South African Police Clearance Certificate
