Job Purpose:

  • Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to achieve sales and margin targets, develop and implementing customer-appropriate sales promotions to maintain and grow sales volumes.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Management and growth of customer base
  • Achievement of sales and margin targets in conjunction with the Regional Sales Manager
  • Conduct regular meetings with customers to understand their needs
  • Seek solutions to maximize and grow volumes and margins
  • Input into sales forecasts and budgets
  • Assist in Logistics Planning for Customer deliveries
  • Develop and implement customer-appropriate sales promotions to maintain and grow sales volumes
  • Gather market intelligence such as prevailing market conditions, competitor activity and segment trends
  • Actively seek new business opportunities to grow business in the region following company credit application procedures
  • Work with the Regional Sales Manager and Credit Manager to minimize risk of bad debt and ensure responsible trading

Qualifications and Expertise:

  • Matric (Pass)
  • A relevant Sales and Marketing or equivalent tertiary qualification (NQF 6)
  • Degree in Commerce will be advantageous
  • Valid South African drivers license

Job Experience:

  • A minimum 3 years sales experience in a commercial environment.

Job Competencies/ Attributes/Skills:

  • Target driven
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Possess good communication skills (written and verbal), including presentation skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Be customer focused
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • SAP knowledge will be advantageous
