The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably and competent individual to assist the departmental BAS System Controller and performing bookkeeping functions with regards to the administration of incorrect BAS segment combination where applicable, theft and losses, departmental claims, credit sales and procurement for the section. This post is based in Elsenburg.
Key Performance Areas
- Procure, collect and maintain stationery and other goods and services for the section;
- Compile and capture general journals to ensure the integrity of financial data on the Basic Accounting System;
- Maintain asset and liability accounts as well as other bookkeeping related tasks;
- Reporting, reconciliations and registers.

Competencies
A good understanding of the following:
- Basic Accounting System;
- Public Finance Management Act;
- National Treasury Regulations and Provincial Treasury Instructions;
- Division of Revenue Act;
- Proven computer literacy;
- Written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification) with accounting and/or mathematics as a passed subject.
Remuneration
R 181 599 per annum (Salary level 5)
