Position Purpose:

To plan, coordinate and manage the total security function by rendering a cost-effective, crime-free, predictable service that has a positive financial impact on Transnet Freight Rail, through the identification of risks and threats against TFR and then implementing counter measures to address these risks.

Position outputs:

  • Implement and manage security (Asset Protection Services) strategy policies, goals and objectives.
  • Conduct risk assessments in order to curb crime.
  • Manage and maintain the issuing and safeguarding of all firearms and ammunition within area of control.
  • Develop and nature working relationships with various role players and stakeholders in order to curb crime.
  • Working with relevant business units and other regions' management teams in order to identify projects that will continue torealise benefits and achieve outcomes on crime-related incidents.
  • Identify, define and track crime hotspots and put measures in place in order to eliminate and curb crime related incidents.
  • Manage the performance and development of subordinates.
  • Ensure proper management and control of the budget.
  • Coordinate and manage annual security training plan and ensure timely implementation.
  • Communicate and implement change initiatives to ensure commitment and buy-in from employees.
  • Ensure training and development of human capital under your control by ensuring that training plans are in place.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma in Security Management, Security Risk Management or Policing with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a security/ crime prevention and/ or law enforcement environment of which at least two (2) years’ must have been in a supervisory role
  • Alternative for candidates without a Diploma in Security Management, Security Risk Management or Policing qualification, is eight (8) years’ experience in security/ crime prevention and/or law enforcement environment of which 4 years’ experience must have been in a supervisory role in the security/ crime prevention and/ or law enforcement environment
  • PSIRA registration will be an added advantage
  • Be in possession of a Code B driver’s licence and be competent and prepared to drive such a vehicle
