Trainee Cloud Engineer - Shoprite Group

The purpose of the Trainee Cloud Engineer role is to support the Platforms and Engineering team to build, develop and maintain the Shoprite Groups cloud infrastructure. As a Trainee Cloud Engineer, you will play an enabling role in cloud architecting (designing cloud solutions for the organization), development (coding for the cloud), and administration (working with cloud networks).

This position will gather and refine requirements, develop designs, implement, test and document solutions to produce the highest quality product and customer satisfaction. You will be challenged and provided with tremendous growth opportunities in a customer-facing, fast-paced and agile environment. The Trainee will partake in a 1-year internship.

Job Objectives

• Monitoring cloud management and data storage services.
• Configuring cloud infrastructure components (networking and security services).
• Collaborate with the Platforms & Engineering team to evaluate and identify optimal cloud-based solutions.
• Developing and maintaining cloud solutions in accordance with best practices.
• Ensuring efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions in accordance with company security policies and best practices in cloud security.
• Identifying, analyzing, and resolving infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues.
• Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvement.
• Modifying and improving existing cloud base systems.
• Managing stakeholders and external interfaces.
• Setting up tools and required infrastructure.

Qualifications

Essential

• Grade 12

Desirable

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

Experience

Essential

• Basic knowledge of Python, Azure, GCP, and AWS cloud technologies such as (EC2, S3, SAAS, and VPC).
• Proficiency in MS Office 365 with well-developed Excel skills.
