Sappi Ngodwana Mill seeks to place a suitably qualified Checker to ensure all outside equipment and processes are fully utilized and functional.
This role reports into the Shift Superintendent Chemical
The main responsibilities of this job are:
- Ensure the plant is running according to the required rate and quality specifications
- Check auxiliary equipment once per shift
- Responsible for the effective running of the lime conveyors
- Responsible for the reporting of any defects/deviations from the normal running of the plant
- Responsible for the replacement of the filter cloth on the pre-coat filter
- Remove blockages on lime conveyors and crushers
- Reclaim lime and load lime with Bobcat and front-end loader
- Responsible for the inspection and cleaning of Bobcat and front-end loader
- Identify abnormal / emergency plant conditions and take corrective action according to standards (BOP)
- Isolate plant as required
- Perform housekeeping with the team – focus on the area of responsibility, and ensure lime conveyor and dump area is cleaned regularly
- Any other ad hoc requests from the Shift Superintendent / Production Manager

The ideal candidate should have:
- Grade 12 (Maths and Science) or N3 Pulp and Paper
- 1-3 years experience in a Production environment
