What’s the role?
This position is responsible for managing Bulk Business Operations, Primary Transport Distribution and Grease Trucks Operations for South Africa. It covers from scheduling, receipting of components into warehouses, and management of the Grease Truck end to Process.
Your Accountabilities Include:
- Responsible for Shell's Bulk Transport.
- Manage the day-to-day activities related to fleet planning and product distribution from Blendcor with support from schedulers.
- Coordinate and assist in implementing effective and efficient inbound and outbound delivery operations, working closely with Hauliers, 3PLs .

- Contribute to the efficiency of Logistics Transport operations related to Contracts with Hauliers .
- Responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with receiving/shipping operations controlling the movements of trailers, in cooperation with the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Liaise with the Cus Ops to handle emergency orders, special requests etc.
- Manage the agreed RT HSSE requirements according to the road transport contracts.
- Ensure all transport activities conducted by the haulier for Shell comply with the RT Manual according to the RT contract.
- To ensure that all RT non-compliance gaps identified are reported and close within the agreed timelines based on severity of the gaps.
- Responsible for monitoring, tracking, analysing and instituting corrective actions to support OTIF performance and CSI.
- Lead by example through compliance with all safety procedures and instructions and reporting of all hazard’s accidents/incidents and near misses.
- Monitor and support Haulier's performance and highlight areas of underperformance to relevant parties.
- Review opportunities for productivity improvements at loading and discharge locations.
- Manages checking of GSAP-related transactions and Shell eServe transactions that are used by the hauliers to fulfil their role in executing customer deliveries.
- Checking of completeness on picking, loading and POD confirmation is required to ensure a good level of customer service.
- Ensure the right fleet size is always available and that the trucks meet the agreed Shell stringent RT requirement.
- Ensure that the driver's quality meets Shell's stringent RT requirement.
- Institute benchmarking tracking for packed road transport, to measure performance relative to best in class. This will form the basis of further improvement initiatives.
- Induct the hauliers and implement the requirements ie, IVMS, JMP, Hardware, etc
- Lead any RT incident investigation.
- Lead in RT audits and responsible for gaps to be closed as per agreed timelines.
- Review and validate JMP/IVMS reports daily and take immediate actions with hauliers to manage violations.
- New bulk customer site visit and conduct customer site risk assessment if necessary.
- Leads the review of KPI meetings for Service, HSSE and Cost with relevant service providers.
- Participate in UP initiatives and benchmarking activities related to RT & GT operations.
- Work with relevant local transport authorities in enforcing RT compliance.
- Drive Transport Safety training.
- Coaching all Haulier drivers (new vehicles, new routes, new procedures, after any breach/accident) and providing necessary training.
- Responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with Grease Truck operations.
- To ensure that GT non-compliance gaps identified are reported and close within the agreed timelines based on the severity of the gaps.
