To support the Syndication and Distribution unit (S&D) in originating, implementing and maintaining syndicated transactions and secondary loan sales. The unit works extensively with lending teams in NCIB in providing pricing and structuring advice on syndicated and bilateral loans and implementing underwritten or arranging mandates for NCIB clients, in collaboration with lending teams.
The unit also executes secondary loan sales in collaboration with Portfolio Management, lending teams and Markets where appropriate.
Job Responsibilities
- Achieve Support S&D team in providing deal and market commentary required for NCIB internal business and risk committees and maintaining and building client and investor relationships
- Garner and share credit market intelligence with stakeholders. Maintain a dashboard of such feedback and track relevant trends and developments in local debt markets
- Prepare deal-specific marketing materials incl. pitch documents, info memos, term sheets
- Assist and drive project initiatives in the teams with respect to new products, ESG, digital

- Ensure primary market syndications and secondary loan sales are executed at profitable levels for NCIB through fee and or margin retention for NCIB
- Contribute to creating and maintaining a smooth interface between Clients/Issuers and Investors by maintaining a database on the broader Institutional, Bank and alternative Investor universe, facilitating reverse enquiries effectively and providing market intelligence and quality solutions
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders through networking, collaboration, and regular communication. Build and maintain external stakeholder/investor relationships through networking / conferencing, ongoing communication and pitching ideas
- Ensure compliance by sanctions checking and adhering to regulations, policies and procedures.
- Ensure suitable governance and controls are applied and followed.
- Assist with and manage the deal implementation and coordinate and manage the legal process through to financial close for syndicated transactions and secondary loan sales
- Get involved in non-deal-specific projects by providing expert advice and input.
- Identify learning and development opportunities to improve performance of self and team
- Ensure work output is of the highest quality and deliverables are met timeously
- Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives
- Research and make recommendations for corporate citizenship initiatives in areas of influence
- Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy
- Seek opportunities to improve business processes, models and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and add value to Nedbank.
Essential Qualification
- Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree (Commercial/Legal/Sciences/Accounting).
Preferred Qualification
- CA(SA) / ACCA / MBA / CFA / Relevant Postgraduate Qualification.
- Minimum Experience Level
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in syndication and distribution, credit or similar background
