The GM Security will ensure operational excellence across the entire site for the Security function. The incumbent shall provide management and strategic oversight to ensure the Security and Safety of all Mutanda employees, property and equipment.

Planning and providing physical and electronic security to the mine to ensure operations can continue without interruptions due to Security issues

Providing early and accurate information to allow management to make calculated decisions with respect to operational issues

Preparing for securing Mutanda people and property when the need arises.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior security services (Military), Police background with staff officer rank or a degree/diploma in Security

Competencies:

  • Experience in managing complex commercial security situations, demonstrations, arrests and handling local stakeholders
  • Basic knowledge of electronic security
  • Languages: French and English (Fluent); Swahili (it is an asset, but not required)
  • Understand the intricacies and challenges of providing security on a mine site
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the African continent, country and issues by keeping current on stakeholders, strategic objectives and business challenges as well as on external factor
  • Computer literate
  • Must be prepared to work with a diverse groups of people
  • Motivate a diverse team of people
  • Staying calm during stressful situations
  • Lead local resources within diversified locations to improve/increase security ownership at a local level
  • Lead the cultural change toward security to sustainably improve security behaviour

Work Experience:

  • At least 10+ years experience in industrial and preferably mining security
  • Previous experience and understanding of the security issues and threats in Africa
  • Demonstrates understanding of African continent, country and issues keeps current on stakeholders, strategic objectives and business challenges as well as on the external factors

Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Be proficient in French and in English
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Preferably no disciplinary or criminal record


4. GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Partner with various functional heads and the GM Security team to implement and operationalize Assets, People, Product and Information (APPI) security programs
  • Ensure consistent application of APPI security programs to mitigate security risks with a specific emphasis on proactive security, illegal mining, organised crime and information security
  • Providing information and recommendations to the CEO with respect to developing situations: political, community, mining and industrial
  • Information collection and dissemination
  • Emergency Evacuation Planning
  • Newcomer Security Induction
  • Security briefings for management and expats
  • Management of the security function in all areas
  • Physical Security
